Tips for Booking a Hotel in Punta Cana
- Find out what is included in your rate before you book. Are you just paying for the room or is there an all-inclusive rate with meals and drinks?
- Book your transfer from the airport to your hotel in advance. Then, you won’t have to figure it out when you get there, tired from the flight. You can simply walk out into the arrivals area, and your driver will be waiting with a sign.
- Check the location of the hotel on Google Maps before you book. Is it close enough to the attractions you want to visit or will you need to spend a lot of money on transport to get around?
- If you travel outside of the high season (which peaks in March), you will find cheaper hotel rates.
- Wages are low in the Dominican Republic, and tipping is appreciated. Keep some small change on hand and tip your wait staff, room attendants and other hotel staff at least 10%.
- If your hotel charges for Wifi, you might consider getting connected at an internet cafe instead when you need to check your email – they are much cheaper than most resorts.
